As you might have already seen, Nintendo partnered with Playboy in order to promote Bayonetta by having Pamela Horton cosplay as Bayonetta. Having Nintendo and Playboy teaming up seems a little off because Nintendo is known to be very family friendly, and Playboy, well, as Playboy. This would make sense for Bayonetta though, as it’s a mature game where “outfits are occasionally shed during battle, with characters’ breasts and buttocks partially exposed” (ESRB).
You were able to purchase the game before the event started. Note that Bayonetta 1 and Bayonetta 2 came in the same box. Fans lined up inside the store prior to the start of the event. The line was actually wrapping around the store until finally, a quarter into 7pm, fans were allowed access to the second floor after having their IDs checked. The line turned out to be for a photo op to meet Pamela Horton dressed up as Bayonetta.
While on line, fans received a trivia quiz “Did She Say It?” and a raffle ticket. We were then invited to had refreshments (witch’s brew–really some Schweppes club soda with dried ice–which created a bubbling/foggy effect in the bowl) and lollipops.
Shortly after completing the trivia quiz, raffle ticket winners were announced. Winners received a small Bayonetta 2 poster/sticker. Then the quiz results came in. Winners had another chance to get the Bayonetta 2 poster/sticker. However, the first place was given a Bayonetta 2 Art Book. Funnily enough though, two of the three quiz winners were in the same party.
The event concluded with Bayonetta reading correct answers–or quotes from the quiz.
These photos below are from Playboy’s facebook page of Miss October 2012 Pamela Horton as Bayonetta where you can vote on your favorite photo.
Playboy’s resident Gamer Next Door, Pamela Horton, was more than happy to don the skin-tight leathers, pistols and, well, pistol-heels of the trigger-happy witch at the center of Bayonetta 2 — which hits Wii U™ today. As you can see…nobody does it better.
While we are on the subject of Bayonetta 2, here’s an interview with Helena Taylor, the voice actor of Bayonetta.
