amiibo, Smash Bros and Pokemon – Triple Launch Event at Nintendo World

As you might already know, tomorrow is a Triple Launch event for the early release of amiibo, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire early for their 24 hour launch event, so that is from Thursday 11/20 9pm to Friday 11/21 9pm. According to their website, there is a gift with purchase and other surprises are in store while supplies last.

The amiibo line up include Mario, Link, Samus, Donkey Kong, Peach, Yoshi, Villager, Wii Fit trainer, and (not pictured): Kirby, Fox,  Pikachu, Marth, all from the Super Smash Bros. Series. Suggested retail is $12.99 ea.

amiibo are NFC figures that can be tapped directly to the WiiU GamePad. (Think Pokemon Rumble U or SkyLanders but without the portal). Depending on the game, you can typically add a character to the game, level up and customize it, and get bonuses or special items.

I’ve found a great descriptive link for getting up close and personal with amiibo.

Super Smash Bros Wii U, 94 on Metacritic based on 13 critics, is supported by amiibo and will have the function to utilize GameCube accessories, most notably and perhaps nostaglically, the GameCube controller. There is an adapter (sold separately) that will allow you to play with your GameCube and WaveBird controllers.

On a side note: There’s even a pre-load option from the Nintendo eShop that will allow you to purchase the game early and will allow you to play after it’s been released. Won’t even have to leave the house! (link can be found here)

pokemon omega ruby alpha sapphire 3dsPokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire takes you back to the Hoenn region with Primal Groudon and Kyogre. These are remakes of the 2003 Ruby and Sapphire (in case, that wasn’t obvious 🙂 ). Carrying on from X and Y, this game still carries on mega evolutions. In addition to mega evolutions, there are also primal Pokemon states–which in some way, is related to mega evolutions.

The Pokemon Amie features (from X and Y) will still be available. And if you’ve gotten the opportunity to play the demo, you can bring over Glalie (who carries the Glalitite needed for Mega Evolution).

I’ll see you at the event tomorrow night. From what I hear, there’s already people on line for this event.
