Second amiibo line up available December 2014. The release date is most likely December 14, 2014, according to Walmart and Amazon.

The second wave features six additional figures: Diddy Kong, Zelda, Luigi, Captain Falcon, Pit and Little Mac.

Third amiibo line up – tentative release date is in February 2015.

Wave 3 has some third party characters. This next group will include Toon Link, Sheik, Ike, Shulk, Lucario, Meta Knight, King Dedede, Rosalina and Luma, Bowser, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Mega Man. Some figures are exclusive to certain stores.

Shulk, from Xenoblade Chronicles, is exclusive to GameStop

Rosalina was recently announced to be a Target exclusive.

And as mentioned earlier, amiibo have different functions depending on the game. No extra accessory is necessary for purchase. Just tap onto your gamepad. amiibo are not be region locked.

The total number will be up to 29.

The figures work with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Mario Kart 8, and Hyrule Warriors currently, with plans for other titles in the future such as Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush, Mario Party 10 and Yoshi’s Woolly World.

Current vendors are Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, Target, Walmart and Toys R Us.

Nintendo LootCrate Amiibo

Nintendo has also teamed up with Loot Crate offers 10 pre-selected figures. These amiibo crates are already sold out.

Over the course of three weeks, you’ll get ten figurines:
Donkey Kong, Mario, Kirby, Pikachu, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Fox, Samus, Luigi, and Zelda, which is a combination of wave 1 and 2.

It looks like the 3DS systems will be compatible with amiibo sometime in 2015, according to their website.

Nintendo 3DS systems will be compatible with amiibo functionality using a peripheral device, scheduled to launch in 2015. Stay tuned for information on the Nintendo 3DS games that will work with amiibo.
